General Goals
At Cashmere Avenue School we aim to provide an environment which is inclusive, supportive and creative, so that children can develop and extend:
| an interest and eagerness in learning as a lifelong process | |
| independence and an increasing responsibility for their own learning | |
| achievement and success in academic, physical and cultural pursuits | |
| an ability to cope with and adapt to change | |
| an understanding of and respect for the bicultural heritage of New Zealand | |
| an understanding of and respect for the multi-cultural nature of our school and society. |

We believe children learn best when : |
||||||
| they feel they are making a worthwhile contribution | ||||||
| their successes (big and small) are celebrated | ||||||
| they are given clear boundaries of acceptable behaviour and where guidance and discipline are consistent, firm and fair | ||||||
| their values and aspirations are reinforced by those around them | ||||||
| they are in an environment they want to be in | ||||||
| their school works as part of a supportive community. | ||||||
Cashmere Avenue School encourages the participation of parents in all the daily activities and planning of the longer term objectives of the school. Opportunities for parent involvement range from governance (Board of Trustees), fundraising and social events (Home and School Association), cultural events (Whanau group) through to constructive participation in the education of your child. This can be both formally and informally with teaching staff and in assisting with homework assignments. A
close communication between parents and teachers is seen as
the best method of sharing information and monitoring a child’s
progress and development. |
