Our Values

The new New Zealand Curriculum identifies a range of values that are core to our children’s education. Through consultation it was clear that both parents/carers and staff of Cashmere Avenue School support these values.  In addition, we consider the following to be the values that are well-promoted and critical to our learning community – excellence, integrity and respect, and innovation, inquiry and diversity.

Our community recognises the importance of ecological sustainability, and has acknowledged that this is an aspect of our school where there is room for improvement.

Learners at Cashmere Avenue School will be encouraged to value:

    • excellence, by aiming high and by persevering in the face of difficulties;
    • integrity, which involves being honest, responsible, and accountable and acting ethically; and to respect themselves, others, and human rights;
    • innovation, inquiry, and curiosity, by thinking critically, creatively, and reflectively;
    • diversity, as found in our different cultures, languages, and heritages;
    • equity, through fairness and social justice;
    • community and participation for the common good; and
    • ecological sustainability, which includes care for the environment.
